L – Intra-Company Transferee: L-1A (Executive, Managerial) & L-1B (Specialized Knowledge) (Back)

• The L visa category is available for intra-company transferees who, within the three preceding years, have been employed abroad continuously
for one year in either a managerial or executive position or in a “specialized knowledge” position, and who will be employed by a branch, parent,
affiliate, or subsidiary of that same company in the United States in a managerial, executive, or specialized knowledge capacity. L-1A visas are
available for the managers and executives, while L-1B visas are available for those possessing specialized knowledge. The employee must be
qualified in terms of education and experience, and he or she must intend to depart the United States upon termination of the authorized period
   of stay.

L-1 nonimmigrant status may be granted for an initial period not to exceed three (3) years. Extensions, however, are possible. The total period of stay may reach seven (7) years for L-1A managers and executives, and five (5) years for L-1B specialized knowledge employees.

L-1 visa holders may bring their spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21 with them on L-2 visas. An L-2 spouse may petition for a valid work authorization document separate from the primary L-1 application.
